Donʻt Miss out on your chance to Vote - Primary Election is this Sat (8/13)!

Friendly reminder that this Saturday, August 13th, is Primary Election Day.

It’s not too late to vote! At this point, the Office of Elections recommends that you either drop your ballot in a ballot drop box (rather than mail) or show up to vote at a voter service center.

Not sure where to drop your ballot or vote in person?

Here is a list of all the Voter Service Centers and Ballot Drop Box locations.

Didn’t receive your ballot in the mail?

Not Registered to Vote?

If you miss the registration deadline, same day voter registration is available at voter service centers, to register and vote in-person, beginning 10 days prior to and through election day. Once registered, you do not need to re-register for another election unless your information - residence address, mailing address, or name change.

Why is voting in the Hawaii Primary Election Important?

Local elected offices from the county to the state are on the ballot. The primary election nominates candidates to represent political parties in the general election. However, the primary election will determine the race in many races, with only candidates running from one political party. In at-large races such as the Kauaʻi County Council, the primary will narrow the field down to the top fourteen candidates who will proceed to the general election.

*Remember: Hawaiʻi voters do not declare a political affiliation with the voter registration pursuant to the Hawaii State Constitution, ensuring every voter's right to secrecy. On the primary election ballot, voters must first select a political affiliation and then vote for candidates of the political affiliation of their choice only. Selecting candidates from multiple political parties will disqualify your ballot. Voters may also vote for candidates for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs and county contests regardless of party affiliation.
